Steve Sloan has been blogging continuously about emerging technology in higher education since 2003 and podcasting since 2004. His popular blogs, including Tech on a Mission and edupodder.com, have gathered over 10,000 views. He presented "Podcasting in Education" at the Educause Western Regional Conference. His blog was recommended for reading in the 2004 Horizon Report.
Sloan recently designed and taught a course on new media in the SJSU journalism department, Jour 163. The class was featured in a story in the Chronicle of Higher Education. Class presenters included: David Weinberger, a fellow at Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet & Society and author of Small Pieces Loosely Joined, Everything is Miscellaneous and co-author of The Cluetrain Manifesto, Phil Wolff, the Managing Editor for the online magazine Skype Journal, SJSU Alumn Robert Scoble of Scobleizer.com and Aaron Uhrmacher, Senior Account Executive at Text 100. Sloan manages the SJSU helpdesk and holds a Master's degree in instructional technology.
